Showcase of Graduate Work

Welcome to my Master of Arts in Educational Technology (MAET) showcase! On this page, you will find a collection of artifacts showcasing my beliefs, skills, and abilities. My artifacts are broken up into three themes that align with my largest takeaways from Michigan State University's MAET Program:

Purposeful Technology Integration: The primary focus of a degree in Educational Technology is integrating technology into the classroom to enhance students' learning. It is important that technology is integrated with thought and purpose, enhancing the instruction of the content standards. Technology in the classroom is a very useful tool if the educator is well trained and comfortable using it. The artifacts included in this theme showcase my ability to integrate technology into my classroom while still focusing on content, assessment and student understanding

Leadership: This theme showcases my interest in leadership within education. I have always had interest in pursuing a leadership role within education, so much so that when deciding to go back to school I heavily considered both the Master of Arts in Educational Technology and Master of Arts in K-12 Administration programs. I ultimately decided to take the Educational Technology route but I have not lost the passion for leadership. The artifacts included within this theme show my skills and ambition to become a technology leader.

Teaching and Learning: Devoting my life to being an educator it is no surprise that I have a passion for teaching and learning. I believe that as an educator I am constantly growing and seeking out new strategies and pedagogy to become a more effective teacher. My time in this program expanded my knowledge, strategies and beliefs about learning in general, student assessment, and social emotional awareness.

Purposeful Technology Integration

Middle School Coding Online Course

Below is a link to an online coding course that I created for middle school students, taking them from coding beginners to text coding in three lessons. This online course showcases my ability to create a completely asynchronous course that is engagingutilizes technology to enhance content, and contains both formative and summative assessment. This online course has also been adopted to a synchronous format used by my S.T.E.M. students, highlighting my ability to not only develop content but teach in a virtual setting.

CMS Final Assessment

Incorporating technology in the classroom should be used as a a pedagogical practice that inspires deep student understanding of content. This artifact shows my critical lens of an LMS (learning management system) and supports my belief of missional thinking. Technology in the classroom is meant to enhance learning toward the learning goals, while providing engagement and accessibility. Below shows my critique of using Schoology's assessment feature that could be used as a formative assessment in my S.T.E.M. 6 course. Going beyond my ability to look at technology in the classroom with a critical eye this artifact exhibits my ability to use learning management systems effectively in practice.

Leadership

Leading with Technology Professional Development

Using a number of different engagement strategies this professional development presentation will introduce and encourage educators to use Design Thinking in their classroom. This artifact highlights my skills of creating relevant professional development, and my belief in using Design Thinking to provide students with deep learning opportunities

Elementary S.T.E.M. Poster

Advocating for Technology Education is very important to me. This persuasive poster was created to encourage teachers to support S.T.E.M. Education in an elementary setting. The design of this poster is subtle yet attention grabbing it is contains information that is straight to the point and concise. This artifact also highlights my technical skill of using graphic design and Canva to create effective posters.

Teaching and Learning

Personal Theory of Learning

This piece goes into detail about my belief that learning is everywhere, happening at all times in formal and informal settings. I place an importance on exposing students to new experiences, while advocating for learning to be engaging and relevant to students.

Assessment Design Checklist

An essential component of learning is gauging student understanding through assessment. This artifact shows the importance I place on creating assessments that are engaging, unbiased, and targeted toward the correct learning goals. I also demonstrate my ability to support claims with research based evidence.

Problem of Practice Final Report: Design Thinking

This Problem of Practice Report showcases my belief and passion of using Design Thinking to support deep learning for all students. In addition to advocating for Design Thinking as a pedagogical approach, this artifact highlights my problem solving skills while using empathy, ideating, and analyzing possible solutions.
